Carmen's Cupcake Wars
Cupcake Wars are perfect for a 12 year old's birthday. The kids love this show and it is amazing how creative they can get when you give them enough materials! For Carmen's Cupcake Wars party we started with a bright color scheme (purples, blues, pinks and greens). She also wanted black to be included. We set up a "Sprinkle Station" full of fun sprinkles, candies, frosting and more. Their favorite material was Laffy Taffy that they molded like fondant.
The first activity the girls did was to decorate cake stands. I hot glued a small cake round onto a plastic champagne glass. They used ribbon, markers, and gems to create unique stands. Then each stand was numbered 1-12. When it was time for judging the girl's placed their cupcake on their cake stand and used a secret ballot to vote.
Then it was time to decorate!! We had two rounds and voted after each one. They were so clever and used the candies in ways I never imagined!
The frog in the bottom left hand corner won round one!
After they decorated the cupcakes they enjoyed snacks, sang happy birthday and then Carmen opened gifts.
For snacks we had: marshmallow cupcakes, fruit cups, graffiti sticks, blue gatorade, cupcake show and cupcakes of course!
I found the cutest cupcake lip glosses at www.amazon.com Each girl went home with a little bag of lip gloss and a lollipop.
