Bunny Hop Easter Hunt
We had the best time celebrating Easter with an egg hunt and lunch. I set up the party at our neighborhood playground and it could not have been a more perfect day! The forest background was beautiful, the weather was perfect, and the kids had a great time!
I set up the snack station and made a fabric garland using old pieces of fabric. I cut each fabric the same size (about 24"x 15") then rolled each piece up to create a log. I used really sharp scissors and cut sections approximately the same size (you can't tell if they are off slightly). Then I tied each one in a knot along a piece of string in a repeating pattern. Since I used all scraps it didn't cost me a thing! The flowery fabric was actually an old baby outfit of Joelles!
I spent weeks saving egg cartons then used the empty containers as our serving plates. I added a cute sign that said "Hoppy Easter" and some ric rac around the edges. Then I filled plastic eggs with some snacks and they turned out adorable. Easiest way to serve snacks ever! We had pink lemonade in milk jars and I straws with glued on cotton balls.
The forest behind the playground definitely made for a beautiful setting. I used white ruffle fabric from www.rufflefabric.com for my tablecloths and fun, grass squares from Hobby Lobby for my placemats. Luckily the pink flowers were blooming in my yard so I snipped a few and put them in vases.
The kids certainly enjoyed opening each egg...
For dessert I decorated oval cookies with royal icing. Once the icing hardened I painted lines and circles using an edible marker. I filled mini paint pallets with food coloring and a few drops of water then the kids used paint brushes to "paint" the cookies. They were so easy and turned out perfect! However, next time I would add less water since they got a little runny.
The kids then searched for the hidden eggs then played on the playground.
The party favors were "carrots" in "dirt". I made the carrots out of pretzel sticks using melted chocolate and crushed oreos for the dirt. They need a little work but the kids didn't care!
