B Is For Back To School
It just doesn't seem right to be planning a back to school party in July but school is starting July 31 this year so there's not much I can do about it.
This year our theme was A is Apple and we included Joelle's gymnastics teammates to come celebrate.
I made Joelle a shirt to look like a sentence strip with her name on it. I used my Cameo Silhouette to create it and it turned out pretty cute!
I always start with a color scheme and this party was all black and white with hints of red and yellow. I made the invitations to look like a sheet of paper. It gets an A+! I love the ruler tape found at Michaels and the paper clip with ribbon gives it some added fun.
We set up at the local park under a large gazebo. It was 800 degrees so the shade helped! I found this vintage desk at an antique store years ago and the large chalkboard is from Hobby Lobby.
The black and white table runner is from Hobby Lobby and worked perfectly down the middle of my table. I am in love with these little apples from oriental trading! They open up and we serve cereal inside for the first day of school.
How perfect were these little chalkboards? Dollar Store!! I used a white marker to write names then aged them with a little chalk rub.
In the Target Dollar Spot I found the dry erase boards ($1.00) that I used as place settings and the flashcards in the center were found there too!
Lunch was served in brown paper bags!
The water labels got a little bumpy with all the humidity...
The ABC and the red container are also from the Target Dollar Spot.

I had some trouble making red frosting so as a last minute save I dipped them in red chocolate. They actually turned out cuter that way. Oh and I used two bite brownies to save time.
More Target purchases...
The girls decorated journals I found at the dollar store. The markers are from Ikea and they are AMAZING!!
Goody boxes turned out really cute. The boxes are from Papermart.
